NBA Unscripted -- Golden State Warriors

The upcoming NBA Unscripted episode on the Warriors is obviously a must watch for Dubs fans (Thursday, March 31st, 7:00pm on NBA TV).  But in looking at the trailer, this seems more like a "buy season tickets" video than something that is in anyway real.  The owners and players are WAY too upbeat about putting up banners and being a good team.  If it was more focused on the reality of their situation (coming back from 6 points down in 12 seconds last night 3/29/11 vs. The Thunder and then stinking in OT to lose) then it would be much more interesting.  Talk about the flaws of the team and how it hurts.  Explain that you have many good pieces and just need one more to be a consistent playoff team.  Contemplate on how games got away in a league where you can't let many games get away and expect to be successful.

Although this Unscripted episode may be about something different than this trailer hints at, I'm sure it's all just fluff. Peep it:

So my conclusion is one of two things.  This episode was shot at the beginning of the season on Lacob and Gruber's tour of the media when they were really excited about being owners were claiming big things to everyone.  Or these guys are just Hollywood hype artists doing what it takes to keep our routinely gullible fan based pumped about mediocrity.  Either way, it is not a good sign.  Better than the Cohan regime, but not a good sign.

NBA Today Podcast

Ryen (with an "e") Russillo has the 2nd most popular podcast on the Everday Sports Programming Network.  He recently had Rich Bucher on the show and it was good.  So I thought I'd share the dorkness:

Flip Saunders -- Coach of The Wiz

This past weekend on Saturday night I saw Flip Saunders walking around Union Square. He looked a little lost.

The next afternoon the GS Dubs went on to beat his team by 10 points.  Boom.

Why The Celtics will win the '10/'11 'Ship (Barring Injuries)

If a picture speaks a thousand words then I'm thinking that a picture of Kobe on the floor with only D. Fish offering a hand up contrasted to this picture would tell about a bajillion words.  Does that make any sense?  No?  Good.

I was going to steal a BDL idea and do a "Provide a Funny Caption" contest for a free 40oz but thought better of it.  I don't think many of us drink 40's anymore anyway.

Lance Stephenson of the Indiana Pacers

The Pacers are 3-9 in their last 12 games and GM Larry Bird recently spoke out against the focus and behavior of the team. A lot of the locker room tension stems from a Pacer loss to the Rockets on March 5th, 2011 where Danny Granger and Dahntay Jones got uber pissed at Rookie 2nd Round Pick Lance Stephensen as they "took exception to comments" made by him.  Apparently, as the above article points out, Dahntay had to be restrained from going after Lance during an in-game huddle.

So who is this Lance kid?  I'm glad you asked:

Lance grabbed ass and titty of a girl in his high school while she punched and kicked him
Lance pushed his girlfriend and mother of his child down the stairs
Lance ditched out on paying a twitter whore $1000 for a 3some

Nice draft pick Larry!  I'm sure his teammates in Indiana love this guy as much as the Anaheim Kings love DeMarcus.

Vivek Ranadive -- Warriors Part Owner

This rich smart dude owns a good portion of the Warriors. And it sounds like they will be utilizing some pretty impressive stat-geek software that will make this the first team of the 21st Century, whatever that means. I can't wait for the future.

The Heat Are Sucking

Wade's all like "WTF?" and "Shut up, LeBron".
Everyone who enjoys The Association is noticing the problems the Heat are having.  They had a 24 point lead over the Magic last week and lost.  They had a decent 6 to 8 point lead against the Bulls yesterday and ended up failing in that one as well after both James and Wade missed shots on the last possession.

Word on the street is that Wade is becoming disenchanted with LeBron.  LeBron takes the last shots, LeBron puts the team on his shoulders, LeBron knows that he is better than Wade.

Here are some sweet articles about the current state:

Where's Baron Davis?

The last I saw of Baron he was throwing a bad pass to Blakers while standing in the sunroof of the all new Kia Optima, the official car of the NBA:

It's nice that Baron got all dressed up, headband and all, in his Clippers warmups to throw an alley-oop pass from a car he wouldn't be caught dead in. This was on February 19th, 2011.

Today is March 4th and Baron is on a new team (the worst one in the Association) playing for his old coach (Byron Scott) who he fueded with back in Charlotte (who is now in New Orleans). Baron played up until the All-Star break throwing lobs to Blake in actual games but then was hurt missing the last three games with The Cavs.

And here he's telling us that everything is fine and is looking forward to "proving the doubters wrong". Sure, Baron. I'm sure you're totally fine with this trade. Hope the knee's better, bud.

Troy Murphy -- Spray Tan

Why does the NBA Universe suddenly care about Troy Murphy of the DunMurphy Sisters? He wasn't good enough to earn time on the lowly Nets who traded him for two Warrior big men who have 6 fouls each. The Dubs immediately bought out his contract thereby netting owner Joe Lacob a "measly" $250K in order to sign former Clipper Al Thornton. But when Celtic fans are involved they get all crazy and think about how a washed up big man who can shoot will help them win the crown this year. I'm sure he'll have a warm spot on the pine next to the O'Neal Sisters. C's fans then dig up videos like this:

Please stop thinking about Troy Murphy and get back to enjoying real players in the NBA. Thanks.

Chris Bosh Left in Hot Car

How could D-Wade and LeBron just forget about their teammate Chris Bosh like that? It sounds like Eddie House didn't do his job!
